Coin Purity

When looking for coin purity it is easy to mistake a counterfeit for a real coin. This is because unless you an expert in appraising or detecting fakes from real ones you will probably think it's the real one. One of the ways of faking a coin pureness is if it has been debased in some way. This is usually happens to coins in several ways but one of the most used ways would be substituting the lower base metals of the coin which is usually either platinum, silver or gold.

Coin purity however can be detected in several different ways; however you still need to know what you are dealing with and how to handle it. If you are an expert you will certainly know if a coin has been substituted for another. With the change of the coin's dimensions and the constant diameter staying the same it will be easy to tell if the coin is a fake. However the height must either be thicker or thinner depending whether it is gold, silver or platinum because their thickness is not the same.

You can also the quality of the coin by the sound it makes when you drop it on a hard surface. Each metal has a different sound and really good experts know the different sounds the metals will make. If you are looking to find out coin purity then the sound the coin makes is the easiest to learn especially for beginners.

However as a beginner it's wiser to have an expert with you because there are some good counterfeiters out there and they are good at theirs jobs.
